If Your Shoppers Love Chocolate as much as we do....

The best way to make Mexican Hot Chocolate is with clay cookware - a Mexican Kitchen’s staple. Passed down by the Aztecs, it’s still preferred for the unique flavor it lends to food. This handcrafted jug is made with ancient hand-molding techniques from the past, and finished with new techniques (and a lead-free glaze, of course) to be both functional and decorative. It’s perfect for making traditional Mexican hot chocolate, which no one can refuse.

Unexpected versatility
The jug can be used directly over heat (a flame or electric range) - just add milk and chocolate. Try it with the food of the Gods, Oaxacan chocolate, and whisk until frothy with the molinillo

The pot can also be used to heat teas, soups, and coffee.

And can we talk about its triple functionality as a vase or decoration? You’ll be impressed.

Better with care
The hot chocolate jug gets better with time and care. It needs to be cured, but it’s worth it. Let your customers know how to cure it by: fill with cool water below its rim, bring the water to a boil on the stove, and allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, and allow the water and pot to cool. Discard the water, and the clay pot is ready to use.

Meet the Potter
Rodolfo Pila has been making Mexican ceramics with the help of his father since he was a boy. After attending cultural school for ceramics, he has built a repertoire blending both traditional and modern techniques. Today he makes beautiful, functional ceramics. He also makes the clay cups for our Cantaritos Kit. Learn more about him here.

*This jug is a cooking vessle, and not recommended as a water pitcher as the terracotta clay will sweat. The condensation that collects on the outside is normal, and does not imply that the jug is leaking.
